In the most Canadian provinces today, midwifery is a recognized part of the health care system. Midwives attend births in hospital, birth centres and at home.
Working collaboratively with other health care professionals, midwifery care has safe, excellent outcomes with far fewer medical interventions.
The Midwives Association of Saskatchewan (MAS) is working to promote the integration of midwifery in the Saskatchewan health care system.
Members of MAS are experienced midwives, student midwives and second attendants who provide care for Saskatchewan women and families.
