Debbie undertook basic nursing education and training before proceeding to Midwifery and later Health Visiting (Public Health) in Manchester, England.
She worked in maternity care ranging from prenatal, labour and delivery, postpartum as well as neonatal intensive care.
Working as a midwife/health visitor utilized her expanded role as a member of a very busy primary health care team.
Health Visiting extended her work with families starting with pregnancy and extending to provision of developmental assessments and family support up until children starting school.
Debbie believes in providing midwifery care as well as promoting health and the prevention of illness in a community oriented setting.
In May 2007 Debbie obtained her Canadian Midwifery Certificate via the International Midwifery Pre-Registration Program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario.
Jessica commences work with Saskatoon Health Region mid-November 2008.
Jessica has been a Registered Midwife since 2006.
She completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery, francophone stream, from Laurentian University in Sudbury Ontario.
Throughout her training she worked across Ontario in urban, rural and remote areas.
Upon graduating she spent a year working in Hamilton, Ontario and then pursued a locum position in Puvirnituq, Quebec.
Jessica has most recently been working with the St Lawrence Valley Midwives in Cornwall Ontario.
Prior to her pursuing a career in midwifery she completed her Masters of Arts in Women’s Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Her thesis focused on the history of midwifery in Canada with an emphasis on midwives
experiences and education in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia prior and post legislation.
